Pelican #407

This was our second stay at destin west. We stayed in pelican 503 last stay. Some complaints we had on this room. The beds were uncormfortable. The refrigerator was getting water inside of it on top shelf somehow. There was ice forming inside fridge and melting onto top shelf. There was no broom to clean sand up. There was a vacuum, but the vacuum didnt work. The description said there was a coffee maker, it was a kuerig. The description needs updated to state its a kuerig. We brough coffee to use in a coffee maker. I would recommend pelican 503 over this room due to these things.

I won the condo from a Silent Auction that Rock by the Sea put a package in A Zac Brown Band Silent Auction. We had the best time and hope to be back in Okaloosa next year.

Wonderful!! The room was perfect for us! The only thing I would have changed would have been a better washer and dryer, as we were there for a softball tournament, but we made it work!

Overall our stay was awesome! The staff was friendly and mostly helpful. Check in and out was fast, and the location was great! I do have a few complaints about our room though. The fridge leaked water onto the floor every day, maintenance came to fix it but it still leaked. Our coffee maker also leaked water all over the counter top, the room was clean but needed dusting on top of things like lamps and such, you could see the dust buildup, and our room slept 8 and we had 7 towels, and we’re having to use towels daily to cleanup water on the floor. I went to office to request more towels and was told I could only have 1 towel because that’s how many our room slept ��‍♀️. So we washed towels daily. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay!! The property outside was clean and well maintained!

The unit I stayed in was nice. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans, and a nice assortment of cooking utensils. The condo was clean when I got there. the only thing I was disappointed with was the fitness center had only one treadmill working and there were three there.
I was there for two months, and they were never fixed.

Family vacation in July 2022, this was our 4th stay at the Destin West property, but may be our last. The Destin West property overall is the best resort we've found anywhere on the eastern seaboard considering it's amenities and private easy access to the beach and lots of shopping and dining options in the Destin / Ft Walton Beach area. The condo we rented itself was a very spacious 3 bedroom with 2 full size bathrooms, galley kitchen, washer/dryer. We have stayed on both the Ocean side and Bayside of the Destin West property, but prefer the Bayside for the convenience of the large lazy river pool complex. The staff working the property management office we very friendly and helpful. So overall we had a really enjoyable and relaxing week at the property.
HOWEVER...there was an evening pool attend who worked the evening shift at our Bayside lazy river pool who is just down right RUDE!!! He's a tall, thin, older gentlemen who not only upset my wife one evening but actually made my daughter cry he was so nasty to her. It's one thing to enforce property rules, which is completely understandable, but to do it in a way that is mean and condescending is unacceptable. Most people are spending $3000-$4000 per week to stay at this property, and by no means should have to deal with ONE rude and nasty employee like this gentlemen. During our stay I witnessed this evening pool attend engaging in disrespectful confrontations with multiple guests. This gentlemen doesn't understand the concept that the customer is right, it's the job of employees to take care of and respect the customer, and that the customer is who is paying his paycheck. He takes the opposite approach. This evening pool attendant upset my wife and daughter so badly, it nearly ruined our vacation. In fact we may not come back again because of him. Finding and keeping good employees can be tough, but Destin West property management should observe and monitor this evening pool attend and correct this situation

We stayed for a softball tournament and couldn't be more pleased with our stay in Pelican 407. The unit was immaculate and served our family of 4 perfectly. Beach chairs being included on the Gulf side with our stay was a great touch and all we had to take across the access bridge was our cooler and beach towels. Having access to the pools/hot tubs on both properties was a nice bonus with teammates staying on both properties. We will definitely be back and plan to stay at Pelican 407 on our next visit!

We really enjoyed our stay at Destin West! Wonderful location and the lazy river is awesome and keeps the kids happy for hours. Can’t wait to come back to stay here again. The only issue I would say we had is that they put out so many property owned chairs and umbrellas on the beach that you don’t have a view of the water on the beach if you do not rent their chairs and get on the front row. Other then that we loved it here!

We stayed here for a week during a volleyball tournament that is hosted every fall. The beach is a 5-10 min walk but we also loved spending time in the pool/lazy river. The only issue we had was going to get groceries as we needed an uber to go get groceries for the week, but we still managed. Loved the place and will definitely stay there again!

We loved the overall property, although the property looked a little tired - probably from a busy summer season. Our condo was ok - needed to be updated and painted and also needed some basic items that a condo should have.

First of all, we will rent again in the future. The area is wonderful and overall we had a great time at Destin West.

That said, we did have some issues on our stay. First off, the unit was not clean when we arrived. The floors were not swept, the tables were not wiped off, the bathroom rugs had not been cleaned really ever. To top that all off, we had no cleaning supplies or trash bags. We had only two rolls of toilet paper for a family for the whole week. So we went out and bought our own supplies. A bit of a frustrating start and money we should not have to spend.

The pool area is simply wonderful. It gets busy, yes, but that's to be expected. Get there early and it's all good. One of the highlights of the trip, and the staff does an excellent job with rule enforcement and cleanliness.

Private beach service is nice, but again, get to the beach VERY early. It fills up quickly.

Staff during check in and check out were not especially friendly, but I expected that going in with the labor issues in hospitality. Still, be a little more 's not that hard.

Finally, the unit itself is a nice unit. It definitely needs to be updated. However, that's not that big of a deal and if you are spending your vacation in the condo the whole time, why even go? My advice to the owners: find a new cleaning company and ensure that the unit is fully stocked with all the supplies a renter will need for a week. It's not a large amount of money, but we still spent over $50 on cleaning supplies that we will not get back. Also, please label the various remotes! There were so many remotes in our unit. We weren't sure which went to which device. And two of them didn't have batteries. It's the little things that go a long way.

One last thing: traffic on US 98 is just awful. Plan accordingly to sit for a long time between Ft. Walton and Destin. You basically HAVE to have a car as it's not a walkable area. Pack yo
